Anniversary Celebration of Last Train Leaving Sausalito

  • Sausalito Ice House Plaza Bridegway & Bay Street Sausalito, CA 94965 (map)

On November 25, 1971, the last train left Sausalito, ending our railroad era of 96 years. The Sausalito Historical Society thinks this is "history that ought to be remembered", so fifty years later, we are going to do just that. We will not celebrate the anniversary of closure, but rather we will have a civic commemoration of our railroad era.

The actual anniversary falls upon Thanksgiving Day; we will gather at Noon, Saturday, November 27, 2021, at our Ice House Plaza in downtown Sausalito

One of our favorite aspects of the Plaza is a "Timeline of Sausalito History", designed to evoke memories of the rails which ran through the site from 1875.

We'll be inviting our fellow Sausalitians, as well as members of the Northwestern Pacific Historical Society to join us, view some photos, share some stories, and enjoy light refreshments.
