The Kentfield-Greenbrae Historical Society (KGHS) would like to warmly invite you to join us at the opening reception of the "Visions of Marin" art exhibit at the College of Marin Fine Arts Gallery on October 1, 2 - 4 PM.
The beauty of Marin County landscapes, depicted in the plein air artistry of renowned American artist, George Demont Otis (1879-1962), will be on display at the College of Marin Fine Arts Gallery from October 1 - 27, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. We hope you can join us for this special opening reception event. If possible, please also share the reception and exhibit info with your members.
Background to the exhibit:
In 1932, after traversing the United States, painting in 35 states and working as a Hollywood film designer and a professional baseball pitcher, Otis discovered his Eden in the beauty of Mt. Tamalpais and the rolling hills of Marin. Otis and his wife, Clara Van Tine, built a house on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in Kentfield, crafting a showcase for their many artistic creations. Twenty-five of Otis’ paintings, treasured for their color and spontaneity, will be featured in the COM exhibition that is being hosted in partnership with the Kentfield-Greenbrae Historical Society (www.kghs.org).
